Cisco IOS XR Network Examples
The examples in this document illustrate configurations for a local-to-remote network that are running Cisco IOS XR software on the Carrier Routing System (CRS-1) routing systems and Cisco IOS software on the Cisco 12000 series routers. The document contains the following sections:
•
show running-config Command Output for Each Node in the Topology
The assortment of examples consist of the output of the show running configuration command for the following combination technologies:
•
internal Border Gateway Protocol (iBGP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)
•
BGP
•
BGP and Intermediate System-to-Intermediate System (IS-IS)
•
BGP and OSPF
Topology Diagram
All examples reflect the network topology in Figure 1. The network contains two CRS-1 routing systems, labeled SYD_CRS-1 and SJ_CRS-1, and three Cisco 12000 series Internet routers, labeled 12406_r4, 12404_r4, and 12406_r3.

Troubleshooting Information
The procedures for troubleshooting an IOS XR software configured network are similar to those for troubleshooting Cisco IOS software-configured network. Generally, your troubleshooting efforts should proceed as follows:
1.
Isolate and reproduce the failing scenario.
2.
Collect relevant information from show and debug commands, configuration files, and protocol analyzers.
3.
Identify the first indication of failure in protocol traces or internal debug output.
4.
Look for the cause in configuration files.
If the via-zone is suspected as the source of a call failure, isolate the problem to a gateway or gatekeeper by identifying the affected subfunction and focus on show and debug commands related to that subfunction.
Troubleshooting Commands
Table 5 provides commands you can use to locate problems in your network configuration:
