Ports Used By QPM
QPM on Windows uses the following ports, in addition to the ports used by CiscoWorks Common Services:
•
51099—JNDI lookup port
•
51199—JRMP lookup port
•
51299—Admin page port
•
10033—Database port
•
51899—PDP port
For information about the ports used by CiscoWorks Common Services, see Installation and Setup Guide for Common Services (Includes CiscoView) on Windows.
Order of Installation
The CiscoWorks Common Services and QPM applications must be installed in the following order:

During installation, you do not need to enter a license key for Common Services or for QPM. See the Cisco Software License Agreement included in the QoS Policy Manager package for more details about license policies for restricted and unrestricted device use.
Installing Common Services Service Pack 2
If Common Services Service Pack 2 is not installed on your computer, you must install it after installing CiscoWorks Common Services and before installing QPM.
Step 1
Insert the QoS Policy Manager CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
We do not recommend installing QPM from a network CD-ROM drive.
Step 2
Select Start > Run, and enter d:\CiscoWorks patches\W2K\SP2
\Common_Services_2.2_SP2.exe where d is your CD-ROM drive.
Step 3
Follow the instructions in the installation wizard.
Installing QPM
QPM is automatically installed in the CiscoWorks Common Services installation folder.
The installation process also copies the QPM 3.2 export and import utilities to the QPM server. For more information about these utilities, see "Upgrading and Migrating QPM."
Before You Begin
•
Ensure that CiscoWorks Common Services 2.2 with Service Pack 2 is installed on your computer before you begin to install QPM. If Common Services Service Pack 2 has not been installed, you can install it from the QPM installation CD. See Installing Common Services Service Pack 2.
•
Verify the TCP ports that QPM uses and check for conflicts with existing applications. See Ports Used By QPM.
•
If you are upgrading from QPM 3.0.x, or QPM 3.1, see "Upgrading and Migrating QPM."
Step 1
Insert the QoS Policy Manager CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
We do not recommend installing QPM from a network CD-ROM drive.
Step 2
Select Start > Run, and enter d:\QPM 3.2 installation\W2K\QPM-K9.exe,
where d is your CD-ROM drive.
The Welcome window opens.
If QPM 3.0.x or QPM 3.1 is already installed on the computer, installation will not proceed, and a message appears, describing the installation sequence to upgrade to QPM 3.2.
Step 3
Click Next to continue.
The Select Program Folder window opens.
Step 4
In the Select Program Folder window, specify or select a program group, if you do not want to use the default name.
Step 5
Click Next.
Step 6
Enter the password for the QoS Policy Manager Database, and confirm your password.
The QPM database password is required internally by the system to ensure database security. You do not need to use the password. You can change the password through Common Services in the CiscoWorks desktop.
Step 7
Select VPN/Security Management Solution > Administration > Configuration > Database Credentials.
Step 8
Click Next.
Step 9
In the Setup Type window, enter the percentage of disk space to keep free on the current partition.
If you intend to perform QPM monitoring tasks, we recommend that you keep a larger amount of disk space free for backup purposes. When you run out of available disk space, QPM stops any running monitoring tasks, and notifies you.
You can make more space available for monitoring by freeing disk space on the QPM server, or by compacting the QPM database using the QPM Rebuild Database utility on the QPM server.
Before using this utility you must back up your QPM database.
Step 10
Click Next.
Step 11
Review your selections in the Start Copying Files window.
If you want to make changes, click Back until you come to the window that has selections you want to change.
Step 12
When you have the selections you want, click Next to start installing QPM on your system.
This process takes a few minutes. After QPM is installed, the Wizard Complete window opens.
Step 13
Select whether you want to restart your computer now or later, and click Finish to complete the setup.
Step 14
Restart your computer before you begin to work with QPM.
The QPM services start automatically whenever you start your computer.
Remove the QPM CD-ROM before you restart your computer.
Where to go next
•
Before you begin to work with QPM, ensure you have the correct user permissions. If you intend to work with ACS device groups and user permissions, configure settings in ACS and CiscoWorks as described in "Setting Up the QPM Server."
•
After setup is complete, verify the QPM installation. See "Verifying QPM Installation, Upgrade, and Migration" for details.
•
If you are upgrading from QPM 3.0.x, or QPM 3.1, and you exported existing QPM application data, you can import the QPM application data into QPM 3.2. For information on importing QPM application data on Windows, see Importing QPM 3.x Application Data.
•
If you encounter problems with installation, or starting QPM, see "."
Uninstalling QPM
You can uninstall QPM directly from the QPM setup or from the CiscoWorks Common Services setup.
•
If you are uninstalling only QPM, it is easier to uninstall from the QPM setup.
•
If you want to uninstall QPM and CiscoWorks Common Services, use the CiscoWorks Common Services setup to uninstall both applications in a single procedure.
Note
Uninstalling QPM does not remove your deployed policies from the network devices.
