Open Caveats—Cisco IOS Release 12.0(30)SZ5
This section describes caveats that are open in Cisco IOS Release 12.0(30)SZ5.
CSCdy45049
During a lab stress test, line rate traffic sometimes does not achieve line rate when scaling over 3000 serial interfaces. This occurs only when thousands of serial interfaces with PPP or HDLC encapsulation are used on the port and line rate traffic is sent through all interfaces.
Workaround: No workaround is available.
CSCeh48414
While testing the high availability (HA) Stateful Switchover (SSO) feature, the traffic is not stable before or after the switchover occurs. This behavior occurs on a Cisco 10000 series router with 200 serial network interfaces, two channelized OC-12 interfaces, and one Ethernet interface. The problem is observed on the 200 interfaces and only when the router is running Cisco IOS Release 12.0(25)SX10.
Workaround: No workaround is available.
CSCeh73497
After a route processor (RP) switchover, the following message is sometimes observed. This occurs on the Cisco 10000 series router with redundant PRE1 cards and with RPR+ mode configured.
C10KEVENTMGR-1-IRONBUS_FAULT: Barium ErrorThe message results from an internal timing issue during the RP switchover. The affected line card recovers successfully and no performance impact is observed.
Workaround: No workaround is available.
CSCei93434
While configuring high availability (HA) Multilink, a slight buffer leak is observed after issuing the show hardware pxf cpu buffers command. As shown in the following sample output, for buffer pool 3 the total number of buffers (67666) does not equal the number of available buffers (67139). This occurs when the router is running Cisco IOS Release 12.0(28)S4.
pool size # buffer available allocate failures-----------------------------------------------------------0 9216 100 100 01 4672 500 500 02 1600 30000 30000 03 640 67666 67139 04 256 98165 98165 05 64 131000 131000 0Workaround: No workaround is available.
CSCej89322
Spurious memory access is observed at fib_notify_interface_state_change after the secondary switchover in the primary router. This symptom occurs on the router when running Cisco IOS Release 12.0(30)S4 and Release 12.0(28)S5.
Workaround: No workaround is available.
CSCsg51693
A random ping failure occurs between two CE routers and is randomly observed across different virtual private networks (VPNs) for more than 300 VPNs. The number of ping failures across the VPNs varies randomly. The number of VPNs is set to 500 and the number of VPN routes is set to 136. Ping operations between two PE routers works fine. The ping failure is not observed when the number of VPN routes is set to 0 and the number of VPNs is set to 999. This symptom occurs when the router is running Cisco IOS Release 12.0(30)SZ and Release 12.0(30)SZ2.
Workaround: No workaround is available.
Resolved Caveats—Cisco IOS Release 12.0(30)SZ5
This section describes caveats that were fixed in Cisco IOS Release 12.0(30)SZ5.
Cisco IOS Release 12.0(30)SZ5 is based on Cisco IOS Release12.0(30)SZ4 and contains the hardware and software features, and caveats included in Release 12.0(30)SZ4.
For information about caveats fixed in other Cisco IOS releases, refer to the appropriate Release Note document at the following URL:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps133/prod_release_notes_list.html
CSCdy19642
Performance counters under T1.5, T3, and VT2 controllers for T1 and E1 interfaces on a channelized line card were not properly updated and displayed. This occurred on a Cisco 10000 series router when cyclic redundancy check (CRC) errors occurred. This has been fixed.
CSCej50166
T1 and T3 controllers took too long to report alarm state changes, which caused underlying interfaces to flap. The line cards took up to 10 seconds after they were integrated to report controller-level alarms (such as LOS, LOF, RAI, or AIS) to the route processor (RP). This has been fixed.
CSCek27728
Traffic convergence was slower than expected after issuing a hw-module slot reset on an APS-protected port. The traffic convergence time was 40 seconds; 15 seconds was expected. The traffic never reached 100 percent convergence. This has been fixed.
CSCsc52795
When fiber issues occurred or line cards were remotely shut down, it took longer (more than two seconds) than expected to result in link-down processing. This caused forwarded traffic to be lost, even when other load-balanced links were available. These symptoms were observed on a Cisco 10000 series router when configuring the interface carrier-delay to a low millisecond to minimize the forwarding interruption. This has been fixed.
CSCsc82324
On a Cisco 10000 series router, when a fiber was pulled, it took from two to 12 seconds for the link down notification to display on the console, which is longer than expected. This occurred with DS1, Ethernet1, and DS3 interfaces configured on a 1-port channelized OC-12 line card and a 4-port channelized OC-3 line card. This has been fixed.
CSCsc83639
When a POS interface on the Cisco 10000 series router received a remote alarm such as PAIS or PRDI, the POS interface took approximately 30 seconds to go to the Down state. This occurred on the Cisco 10000 series router with a 1-port OC-12 POS line card, 6-port OC-3 POS line card, and a 1-port OC-48 POS line card. The router's POS interface was connected to another similar POS interface on another router. The cable was pulled on the other router. This has been fixed.
CSCse58613
The amount of time it took for an APS switchover operation was longer than the 50 ms allowed by the SONET specification. This occurred on a Cisco 10000 series router with a channelized OC-3 line card that was configured for either SONET VT1.5 DS1 interfaces or VT2 Ethernet1 interfaces. This has been fixed.
CSCsf17379
A T1 within a SONET controller took five to eight seconds to recognize a link pull and to bring the interface down. The serial interface on the Cisco 10000 series router that corresponded to the T1 that was broken should have gone down in less than four seconds at all times. This has been fixed.
CSCsh70592
The running configuration on the active and standby PREs was not synchronized when the configuration was changed using the copy command. However, the size of the running-config file looked synchronized in the output of the dir system: command. This was observed on a Cisco 10008 router with a PRE1 and with PRP+ and stateful switchover (SSO) mode enabled. The router was running Cisco IOS Release 12.0(30)SZ1. It appeared that the first line of the commands in the file was not executed properly on the standby route processor (RP). This has been fixed.
CSCsh89037
A Cisco 10000 series router with dual PRE1 processor cards that were configured for redundancy sometimes displayed the following message when performing a PRE switchover. This has been fixed.
%SYS-2-INTSCHED: 'suspend' at level 7CSCsi02671
The gateway generated traceback messages and the following error message during basic operation. This occurred after upgrading to the Cisco IOS software image 12.4.12a from 123-14.T5. This has been fixed.
Mar 2 19:00:30.550: %FIB-4-FIBBADSNMPPREFIX: Invalid prefix passed to> CEF SNMP walker (0.0.0.1/0). -Traceback= 0x412DD26C 0x416495B4CSCsi20982
The 4-port channelized STM1-1 line card reloaded with the following error and traceback message. This occurred on a Cisco 10008 router running Cisco IOS software version 123-7.XI8b. This has been fixed.
Mar 19 13:57:58.614 CDT: %IPCGRP-3-SYSCALL: System call for command 408 (slotx/y) : ipc_send_rpc_blocked failed (Cause: retry queue flush)-Traceback= 60549664 6054993C 6054A3BCFrom linecard consoleservice internal (global)if-con x/y (x- slot #, y- module #)log dumpUnexpected exception to CPU vector 0x8026A784, PC = 80024874Traceback= 80024874 88 80059C34 8005A780 8005A8C0 80005D14 80016378 800169C8Machine Check Error, can be ECC or Watchdog..Dumping the 60x Bus Transfer Error Status and Control Registers...See MPC8260 Users Manual page 4-36 Section 4.3.2.10 for detailed info.TESCR1 = 0x10020A00TESCR2 = 0x4000Fatal called from ECC error handler..CSCsi53131
The value of the cRFStatusPeerStandByEntryTime parameter in the CISCO-RF-MIB was always zero (0). This occurred on a dual route processor (RP) system that was configured for redundant operation. This has been fixed.
CSCei54595
Unframed E1s with SONET VT framing showed a high throughput loss. This occurred when the router was running Cisco IOS Release 12.0(28)S3 and it affected the 1-port channelized OC-12/STM-4 and 4-port channelized OC-3/STM-1 line cards. This has been fixed.
CSCsj12312
Multiple PXF failures caused the software to force a reload of the PRE1. This occurred on the Cisco 10000 series router with a PRE1 installed and with FRF.12 end-to-end fragmentation configured. The router received a sequence of specially crafted FRF.12 end-to-end fragmentation packets. Cisco 10000 series routers with a PRE2 or PRE3 installed, or systems that were not configured for FRF.12 were not affected. This has been fixed.
CSCsj57341
The MPLS traceroute command did not show the P router's intermediate hop. This occurred on the Cisco 10000 series router running Cisco IOS Release 12.0(30)S5 with a PRE1 and with PXF and Netflow enabled on the router. In a topology such as the following, the traceroute command output displayed an asterisk (*) for the two P routers when tracing routes to the PE2 and CE2 network. When tracing routes beyond the CE2, the traceroute command showed all of the hops. The PE2 was a Cisco 10000 series router running Cisco IOS Release 12.0(30)S5. The PRE2 had Netflow enabled on the interface connected to the P router. This has been fixed.
