Cisco Router and SDM Version 1.2 Availability Announcement [Cisco IOS Software Releases 12.3 T]

Cisco Router and Security Device Manager (SDM) version1.2 is now available on Cisco 830, 1700, 2600XM, 3600, 3700, and 7200VXR Series Routers, and the Cisco 7301 Router.

Effective with version 1.2, Cisco has changed the name of this feature from SDM to Cisco Router and Security Device Manager. This name change reflects the new direction for SDM application to manage Cisco router features along with support for industry-leading integrated security management functionality in Cisco IOS® Software.

CISCO SDMV1.2 KEY FEATURES

• Inline Intrusion Prevention System (IPS)
Worm Mitigation support in Cisco IOS Software Release 12.3(8)T

– Easily provision shoot-on-sight signatures on inbound/outbound router interfaces

– Packages attack-drop.sdf file so all routers shipped with SDMv1.2 come pre-installed with the IPS signatures

– Cisco routers already running SDM can use the "SDM Update" feature to automatically install SDMv1.2 (and the IPS signature file) from Cisco.com to router flash

• Startup Wizard Usability Improvements

– Cisco 830, 1701, 1710, 1711, and 1712 Routers are factory-configured with Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server for LAN clients

– Automatically propagates Domain Name System (DNS) server configuration from Internet Service Provider to LAN DHCP clients
