End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement—
Cisco Redundant Power System 300

Cisco Systems announces the end of life of the Cisco Redundant Power System 300 (RPS 300). The last day to order the Cisco RPS 300 and the RPS 300 connector cable will be December 31, 2003. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until December 31, 2008. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco RPS 300.

Customers with switches supported by the Cisco RPS 300 are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco Systems Redundant Power System 675 (RPS 675). However, the Cisco Catalyst 3524-PWR XL switch is only supported by the Cisco RPS 300. The Cisco RPS 675 is an enhancement to the RPS 300, as it will power up in active mode and is capable of supporting the higher power requirements of the Catalyst 3550-24 PWR switch.

Last shipment	The last possible date that Cisco and/or its contract manufacturers ship the affected product.	March 31, 2004
End of Routine failure analysis date	The last possible date a routine failure analysis may be performed to determine the cause of product failure or defect.	December 31, 2004
End of new service attachment	For equipment and software that is not covered by a service-and-support contract, this is the last date to order a new service-and-support contract or add the equipment and/or software to an existing service-and-support contract.	December 31, 2004
End of service contract renewal	The last date to extend or renew a service contract for the product. The extension or renewal period cannot extend beyond the last date of support.	December 31, 2007
Last date of support	The last date to receive service and support for the product. After this date, all support services for the product are unavailable, and the product becomes obsolete.	December 31, 2008

Product Migration Options

Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco RPS 675 for switches other than the Cisco Catalyst 3524-PWR XL.

Products supported by the older Cisco RPS 300:

•Catalyst 3524-PWR XL

•All Catalyst 2950 switches (except WS-C2950G-24-EI-DC)

•All Catalyst 3550 switches (except WS-C3550-24PWR-SMI/EMI and WS-C3550-24-DC-SMI)

•Catalyst 2980G-A

•Catalyst 2900 LRE XL and 2950 LRE switches

Products supported by the new Cisco RPS 675:

•All Catalyst 2950 switches (except WS-C2950G-24-EI-DC)

•All Catalyst 3550 switches (except WS-C3550-24-DC-SMI)

•Catalyst 2980G-A

•Catalyst 2900 LRE XL and 2950 LRE switches
