Compatibility Between CPE and Line Cards

Carrierless Amplitude and Phase Modulation

The Cisco routers using CAP encoding will train to the following:

  • Cisco 6100 (NI-1 only) with 2xCAP

  • Cisco 6100 (NI-1 and NI-2) with 4xFlexi

  • Cisco 6130 (NI-1) with 4xFlexi

  • Cisco 6130 (NI-2) with 4xFlexi

  • Cisco 6160 (NI-2 only) with 4xFlexi

  • Cisco 6260 (NI-2 only) with 4xFlexi

Discrete Multi-Tone Issue 2

Cisco routers using Discrete Multi-Tone Issue 2 (DMT-II) encoding will train to the following:

  • Cisco 6100, Cisco 6130 with NI-1 and 2-port DMT line cards

  • Cisco 6130 with NI-2 and 4-port DMT cards and 4-port Flexicards

  • Cisco 6160 with NI-2 and 4-port Flexicards

  • Cisco 6015, 6160, and 6260 with NI-2 and 8-port DMT cards

Currently, there is no support for the following:

  • 2xDMT for NI-2

  • 4xDMT on NI-1 or the Cisco 6100

  • 4xDMT on the Cisco 6160

Note: 2-port DMT cards require a minimum code level of 2.4.1 to work with the Cisco 6100 or Cisco 6130 ADSLAM.
