Detailed Information
H.323 Support for VoIP Gateways
The Cisco CMM line card can be configured as H.323 VoIP gateway with Cisco CallManager using ISDN Primary Rate Interface (PRI) for T1 and E1 to provide call processing support. CMM will provide ISDN PRI support for both network and user side signaling. In addition the release of Cisco IOS software also adds support for T1 Channel Associated Signaling (CAS).
E1 R2 Signaling
The Cisco CMM now supports E1 R2 signaling when configured as H.323 gateway. The E1 R2 signaling an international signaling standard common to channelized E1 networks. A number of countries and geographic regions implement R2 in different ways from the standard. Cisco Systems addresses this challenge by supporting many localized implementations of R2 signaling in its Cisco IOS software.
Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST)
SRST allows Cisco CMM module to manage connections temporarily for Cisco IP Phones when a connection to a Cisco CallManager (CCM) is unavailable. The SRS Telephony feature provides CCM with fallback support for Cisco IP phones attached to a Cisco router or switch on the local network. The SRS Telephony feature enables CMM to provide call-handling support for Cisco IP phones when they lose connection to remote primary, secondary, or tertiary CCM installations, or when the WAN connection is down.
MGCP Gateway Fall back
MGCP gateway fallback is a feature that improves the reliability of MGCP branch networks. A WAN link connects the MGCP gateway at a remote site to the Cisco CallManager at a central site, which is the MGCP call agent. If the WAN link fails, the fallback feature keeps the gateway working as an H.323 gateway and re-homes back to MGCP call agent when the WAN link comes up. MGCP gateway fallback works in conjunction with the SRST feature.
