This document describes how to configure a Cisco 6100/6130 NI-1 Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) that has no stored or running configuration.

Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow the steps below to configure a Cisco 6100/6130 NI-1 DSLAM that has no stored or running configuration

Set up HyperTerminal on your PC

Connect a serial cable from the System Controller Module (SCM) to a COM port on your PC.

Open a HyperTerminal connection.

Configure the COM port with the following settings:

Bits per second: 38400
-
Data bits: 8
-
Parity: None
-
Stop Bits: 1
-
Flow control: None
-

Remove the SCM card from the Cisco 6100, and insert it again.

Press the Return key. Repeat until you see the Cisco 6100 menu, as shown in the following example:

Select 1. Display Diagnostics Status
If the Flash image status is VALID, select 2. Modify IP Address.

Select 3. Modify Subnet Mask

Select 4. Modify Gateway Address

Select 5. Modify Server Ip Address

-
Select 6. Save IP Values to EEPROM

Type 0 to exit
-
At the prompt to reset hardware, type YES
-
Press the Return key. Repeat until you see the Cisco 6100 menu
The Cisco 6100/6130 NI-1 DSLAM is now configured.
