This document explains the Invalid Rx Port Errs slot error, which is displayed when you use the dspsloterrs slot command.

What Is This?

The backplane interface has a register that controls which ports are active on the card. If a BFrame is received that has the correct slot ID and parity, then the port field is checked against this register to see if that port is active. This count is incremented if the port is not active.

What Does It Mean?

Usually, these errors are seen with other errors, like RX BIP-16 errors and, in these cases, the Invalid Port errors are not significant. If no other errors are present at the same time, it is most likely an indication of a configuration problem either on the card reporting the errors or the card that is generating the data.

How Can I Eliminate the Errors?

The source card is the most likely culprit. To isolate the card sending the data, determine which other cards have connections through the card reporting the error. This source card can then be reset using the resetcd slot h command to force software to reload its configuration data.

If this fails, the source card should be replaced. If the errors persist after replacing the source card, the card reporting the error should be replaced.
