Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(14)SX2 for Supervisor
Engine 720 of the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Switch

Use this publication if you plan to implement the Cisco Supervisor Engine 720 in hybrid mode (Cisco IOS® running on the MSFCx and Catalyst OS® running on the supervisor) for the Cisco Catalyst^® 6500 Series Switch or the Cisco 7600 Series Internet Router.

Cisco IOS^® Software Release 12.2(14)SX2 is an MSFC3 only release (for use only in hybrid mode with the Supervisor Engine 720) and needs a minimum of Catalyst OS® 8.1.1 for use.

New Hardware Features

Module support is determined primarily by the Catalyst OS release supported on the supervisor. Please refer to the appropriate Catalyst OS (8.1.1 or higher) product bulletin for details

New Software Features

There are no new software features in this MSFC3 release. For feature enhancements in a hybrid environment, please refer to the appropriate Catalyst OS (8.1.1 or higher) product bulletin.

Table 1 lists the software versions and applicable ordering information for the Cisco Supervisor Engine 720 MSFC3 for the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Switch.

Caution: Always back up the switch configuration file to a Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) server or Flash device before upgrading or downgrading the switch software to avoid losing all or part of the configuration stored in NVRAM. When downgrading switch software, the configuration will be lost.
