Cisco IOS AAA network security services provide the primary framework to set up access control on a router or access server. Cisco IOS AAA is an architectural framework for configuring a set of three independent security functions in a consistent manner. It provides a modular way to perform authentication, authorization, and accounting services.

PKI provides strong and robust authentication, authorization, confidentiality, and non-repudiation for eBusiness and eCommerce applications. SSH supports secure telnet access between applications and router resources; SSL enables a secure path between a web browser and router resources.
