Automated and programmable isolation of common network problems
Diagnose software and network neighborhood issues on Cisco platforms and minimize troubleshooting time with the Cisco IOS Service Diagnostics feature. Customers, partners, and Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) engineers can use this feature to run diagnostic audits on the network and monitor device health and state.
Cisco IOS Service Diagnostics automates some of the vast troubleshooting experiences of Cisco engineers in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Protocol, and Quality of Service (QoS) areas. The goal is to isolate end users from the rigors of Tcl scripting or Embedded Event Manager (EEM) policy writing and provide a simple interface for deploying and receiving diagnostic information from scenario-specific troubleshooting scripts.
The benefits of the Cisco IOS Service Diagnostics feature include:
- Cost savings: reduced Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
- Increased network uptime
- Automatic identification of the most common root causes for the most common failure scenarios related to BGP, OSPF, and QoS
- Automatic collection of additional context information that is relevant to diagnosing a network problem
- An infrastructure that supports customization and additional diagnostics
- Enhancement of the programmable platform capabilities of Cisco IOS Software
