Hardware and Software Requirements

Campus Manager 4.0 Service Pack 2 requires CiscoWorks Common Services 3.0 and Campus Manager 4.0.

Downloading Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2

Campus Manager 4.0 Service Pack 2 requires the file, cwcm4_0_2_win.exe, to be downloaded. You can download the file either from Cisco.com or from Software Center.

Downloading From Cisco.com

You can download the updates from Cisco.com either by selecting Products & Solutions > Network Management > All Network Management Products > CiscoWorks Campus Manager > Download Software Image.

From http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cw2000-campus.

To download the file from Cisco.com:


Step 1 Locate the package file cwcm4_0_2_win.zip.

Step 2 Save the file to a temporary working area of your server.


Downloading From Software Center

To download updates using Software Center:


Step 1 From CiscoWorks homepage, select Common Services > Software Center > Software Updates.

The Software Updates page appears.

Step 2 In the Products Installed table, select the check box corresponding to Campus Manager.

Step 3 Click Select Updates in the Software Updates page.

The Proxy Server Setup dialog box appears.


Note You will be prompted to enter proxy server credentials only if you have Common Services 3.0 Service Pack 2 installed. Step 4 is not relevant if only Common Services 3.0 is installed.


Step 4 Enter your Hostname/IP Address, Port, username and password.

Enter your Proxy server username and password only if you have configured proxy settings under Common Services > Server > Security > Cisco.com Connection Management > Proxy Server Setup.

The Source Location page appears.

The Available Images page appears with packages for both Windows and Solaris (cwcm4_0_2_win.exe and cwcm4_0_2_sol.zip).

Step 5 Select cwcm4_0_2_win.exe and click Next.

The Destination Location page appears.

Step 6 Enter the location or browse to the location using the Browse button..

Step 7 Click Next.

The Summary page appears. The Summary window shows a summary of your inputs.

Step 8 Click Finish to confirm the download operations.


Note The package file is saved in the user-defined directory in the folder cm.



Installing Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2

Before you install Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2 , make sure your installation environment meets the requirements described in "Hardware and Software Requirements" section.

Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2 installation takes approximately 20 minutes. If you opt to back up, package installation might take longer.

Installation Notes

Before installing Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2, note that:

Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2 installation will delete the files backed up by previous SPs.

Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2 installation allows you to back up all files that it replaces. The backed up data is used to retain the previous version when you uninstall Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2.

You must opt to back up the files when prompted to uninstall
Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2.

You are not prompted to back up the files during reinstallation of
Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2.

You cannot reinstall Campus Manager 4.0 over Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2.

To install Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2 on Campus Manager 4.0:


Step 1 Log in as local administrator.

Step 2 Navigate to the directory that contains the zip file that you downloaded.

Step 3 Unzip the package file cwcm4_0_2_win.zip to your temporary directory.

Step 4 Double-click the file, cwcm4_0_2_win.exe, to begin installation.

A prompt appears:

Do you really want to install Campus Manager 4.0 SP?

Step 5 Click Yes to continue or click No to exit the setup.

If you have not installed Common Services 3.0 Service Pack 2, this message appears:

Install CiscoWorks Common Services 3.0 Service Pack 2, or later, before installing Campus Manager 4.0 Service Pack 2.

The installation terminates when you click OK.

You can download and install Common Services 3.0 SP2 from this location:

After installing Common Services 3.0 SP 2, resume from Step 4.

A dialog box appears:

You may decide to uninstall Campus Manager 4.0 Service Pack 2 later. 
However, to uninstall Campus Manager 4.0 Service Pack 2, you must 
first back up the database and any files that will be affected during 
installation now.
You may back up the database and any affected files during this 
first-time installation only.

Readme.

Do you want to back up now?

Step 6 Either:

Click Yes to back up the database and the affected files and continue.

Or

Click No to continue installation without backing up files.

A dialog box appears:

Cisco recommends that you back up during the installation of Campus 
Manager 4.0 Service Pack 2.
You will NOT have the option to back up these files if you reinstall 
Campus Manager 4.0 Service Pack 2 later. 
Are you sure you want to proceed WITHOUT backing up the database and 
other files now?

Step 7 Click Yes to continue without backing up or click No to exit the setup.

The Installation window with the welcome message appears.

Step 8 Click Next.

The Software License Agreement dialog box appears.

Step 9 Click Yes to accept and continue or click No to exit the setup.

The System Requirements window appears and installation checks system requirements.

If there is not enough disk space to install SP, the installation displays an error message and stops.

If the minimum requirements are not met, the installation displays an error message and exits the setup.

Step 10 Click Next.

A Summary dialog box displaying the current settings for installation appears.

Step 11 Click Next.

The Setup Complete dialog box appears with:

Setup is complete. Click Finish to start CiscoWorks.

Step 12 Click Finish to complete and quit the installation.

Step 13 Verify the installation by selecting CommonServices > Software Center > Software Update > CampusManager.

The Patches Installed table displays Campus Manager Devices Supported in Campus Manager Service Pack-4.0.2.


Uninstalling Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2

Before you uninstall Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2, note the following:

If you install any patch after installing Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2, you will not be able to uninstall Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2.

It takes approximately six minutes to uninstall Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2.

Uninstalling Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2 reverts the system to the previous state from where it was upgraded.


Caution You can uninstall only the latest version of SP which you have installed.

To uninstall Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2:


Step 1 Run the restore script by entering the following at a command line interface:

NMSROOT\bin\perl NMSROOT\bin\restoreCMsp.pl

where NMSROOT is the folder (C:\Program Files\CSCOpx by default) in which CiscoWorks is installed.

A message appears:

Do you really want to uninstall SP (Y/N)

Step 2 Enter Y to uninstall, or enter N to cancel uninstall.


Reinstalling Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2

To reinstall Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2 on Campus 4.0 follow the instructions in the
"Installing Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2" section.


Note You are not prompted to back up the files during reinstallation of Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2.

Known problems are unexpected behaviors or defects in Campus Manager software releases.

Q. I want IDU 3.0 on Campus 4.0. But, I find only Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2 on Campus 4.0 on Cisco.com. Where can I find IDU 3.0?

A. The devices that were supported by IDU 3.0 on Campus Manager 3.2 have been rolled into Campus Manager 4.0. There was no IDU 3.0 on
Campus Manager 4.0. Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2 is the first SP on Campus Manager 4.0. The devices supported in SPs on Campus Manager 3.2 and Campus Manager 3.3 have been rolled into Campus Manager 4.0 and the later SPs.

Q. I do not want support for all the devices that you have supported in an SP. Can I select only the devices I want?

A. No. The present SP installation framework does not support this feature. Even if you do not have all the supported devices, installing an SP will not adversely affect your network.

Q. Can I get new device support for CiscoView, Device Fault Manager, or Resource Manager Essentials?

A. Yes. The device support packages are available at the following locations:


Q. Why should I back up my database and affected files before I install an SP?

A. You must opt to back up the database and affected files when installation prompts you to. If you do not back up the database and affected files, you will not be able to uninstall Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2.

If you want to revert to the stage prior to SP installation, you will have to uninstall Campus 4.0 and install Campus 4.0 again. After this, restore the database that you backed up before the SP installation.

Q. Can I uninstall SP?

A. Yes. You can uninstall Campus Manager 4.0 Service Pack 2. When you install Campus Manager 4.0 SP 2, you are prompted to back up the database and all affected files. We recommend that you back these up.
