Q. How do you install the Java VM on a PG?

A. Use this method if you have already completed the Microsoft Windows NT installation and you do not wish to add an additional Windows NT component:

Note: Take all defaults in the setup.

  1. Map a drive to Cisco CallManager.
    C:\net use *	\\geoxyzcm\c$
  2. Navigate to the C:\CiscoPlugins\Server directory.
  3. Run CiscoJTAPIClient.exe. This action starts the installation of the Java VM.

Q. Why do you need to install the Java VM?

A. The Java component is necessary for the PG to communicate with Cisco CallManager. The Cisco CallManager platform communicates only in Java-based language. As a baseline installation, neither Cisco Intelligent Contact Management (ICM) nor Windows NT has a Java Telephony Application Programming Interface (JTAPI) library loaded. If you load the client from Cisco CallManager, you allow the PG to communicate and receive the information necessary for the appropriate route of the calls. The PIM signs on to Cisco CallManager as a special user with use of the JTAPI interface.
