The Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) is a protocol for discovering devices on a network. Cisco Intelligent Contact Management (ICM) does not require you use this protocol. It may be necessary to disable CDP to troubleshoot Operating System (OS) level issues. The purpose of this document is to outline the procedure for disabling this protocol.
Q. How do I disable the CDP in Microsoft Windows NT?
A. In Windows NT, the CDP is disabled using the Device Manager.
- From the Windows Task Bar, select Start > Settings > Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network icon.
- Click the Bindings tab.
- Click the down arrow for Show Bindings for.
- Select all protocols.
- Select Cisco Discovery Protocol.
- Click Disable. You should see a disabled icon for the Cisco Discovery Protocol.
- Click OK.
- You must re-boot the computer the change to take affect.
