Q. What role does the Sybase EP Management Agent play in Cisco ICM WebView?

A. The Sybase EAServer, which provides Java 2 support, is a third-party software required by Cisco ICM WebView. The Sybase EP Management Agent, a component of the Sybase EAServer, is used by the Web console systems management tool and installer. It allows remote management of installed services, such as the EAServer. The WebView server does not use the Sybase EP Management Agent which is not required for WebView to function properly. Therefore, you can stop this service.

In order to stop the Sybase EP Management Agent, complete these steps:

  1. If you use Windows NT, click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Services. If you use Windows 2000, click Start> Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Services > Services.
  2. Locate Sybase EP Management Agent.
  3. Click Stop.

A. Alternatively, you can run am_stop.bat to stop the Sybase EP Management Agent. The am_stop.bat utility is located in the c:\Program Files\Sybase\AgentManager-3_0_\bin directory (see Figure 1).
