BIOS Upgrades

In order to find out what version your Compaq/HP server BIOS should be, refer to Cisco IP Telephony Operating System, SQL Server, Security Updates.

At the time of this document's publication, individual BIOS upgrades for some of the Compaq/HP models were integrated in the win-OS-upgrade-K9.2000-2-4.exe file.

For more information and to download the win-OS-upgrade, go to the Software Download (registered customers only) page. From the Software Download page, click on the win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-2-4-Readme.htm link to download the software.

The upgrade updates this BIOS firmware:

Date or Version

Server

11/08/2000

MCS-7830 BIOS

11/15/2002

MCS-7825 (800/1133) BIOS

6/03/2003

MCS-7825H-2.2 BIOS

12/18/2002

MCS-7835 (733/1000) BIOS

11/15/2002

MCS-7835-1266 and MCS-7845-1400 BIOS

6/19/2003

MCS-7835H-2.4-EVV1 or 7845-2.4-EVV1 BIOS

If you recently purchased a new server, the BIOS on the server may be newer than the version listed in the table. The upgrade does not change (downgrade) newer versions. These upgrades occur from within Windows and do not require booting from a CD-ROM or diskette.

Note: This upgrade does not change any IBM server drivers, BIOS, or firmware. The required updates for MCS-7815-1000, MCS-7815I-2.0-EVV1, and MCS-7835I-2.4-EVV1 are individually found on the Software Download (registered customers only) page.

Contact IBM to find any applicable upgrades for customer-provided, Cisco-approved IBM servers purchased from IBM or an IBM reseller.

The BIOS updates as per the Win-OS-upgrades may not be the latest available version. If you want to do the upgrades manually or upgrade to a more recent version, you can download them from Compaq. However, it is advisable to be very carefull when deploying the BIOS firmware this way. You can download the correct patch for your server at the HP ROM Updates leavingcisco.com page.

In order to verify what ROM revision you are currently on, you can use the debug command from a DOS prompt.

>debug
D F000:FFF5

!--- The far right number tells you the ROM revision.

q

!--- Enter q to quit the debug.
