Facilitate Reliable Payment Card Transactions
Simplify Compliance with Industry Payment Card Processing Guidelines
Retailers that process payment card transactions are required to meet payment card industry (PCI) security, reliability, and standardization guidelines. The Cisco PCI Solution for Retail, a set of configurations and recommendations for wired and wireless retail networks, can help you achieve PCI compliance. The solution is suitable for small, medium, and large stores.
Meet Compliance Requirements
To pass PCI compliance, your company must demonstrate that its procedures, security policies, and technical infrastructure adhere to the PCI specification. The specification affects all retailers that process, store, or transmit credit or debit card information over their networks.
Gain Secure Payment-Data Transport
The primary application supported by the Cisco PCI Solution for Retail is the secure transport of payment card information across wired and wireless networks. The application supports network management, monitoring, and remediation services. It also provides:
- A centralized management toolkit that provides more operational efficiency than managing the distributed endpoints individually
- Small, medium, and large architectures to address various retail store footprints
- Insight into the PCI audit process by including a lab model and associated report on compliance from Cybertrust (a Qualified Security Assessor)
With this application, your store network uses a dual-radio infrastructure design, regardless of store size. This design helps ensure adequate network capacity for high-bandwidth applications such as streaming media to mobile kiosks or digital signs. It also facilitates adequate path isolation and segmentation to help ensure that payment data is separately encrypted from the other types of retail business data. The solution also includes a variety of other Cisco security technologies.
Rely on a Service-Oriented Framework
The framework for the Cisco PCI Solution for Retail is based on the Cisco Service-Oriented Network Architecture (SONA) and encompasses three key components:
- The application layer, which governs retail, POS, payment, business, and collaboration applications
- The integrated network services layer, which governs unified communications services (presence, policy, and voice), security services, identity services, and network virtualization
- The network systems layer, which encompasses designs for small (between 2000 and 6000 square feet, with fewer than 25 devices requiring network connectivity), medium (between 6,000 and 18,000 square feet, with 25 to100 network devices), and large (between 15,000 and 150,000 square feet, with more than 100 network devices) retail stores.
By combining the Cisco PCI Retail Solution with Cisco SONA technology, you can create a standardized and flexible network to help ensure reliable payment card transactions.
