Problem Description
Some line cards may exhibit transmit frequency drift or excessive intrinsic transmit jitter.
Background
This problem has been isolated to a timing anomoly on the line card which is associated with a particular revision of an oscillator.
Problem Symptoms
The optical link may not come up (receive synchronization failure) or may experience a high BER. These problems may manifest during initial deployment or may develop over time.
Workaround/Solution
Customers can replace OC192/POS line cards that were shipped from Cisco prior to 2001 and are experiencing this problem.
The OC192/POS Engine 4 based line cards are no longer being manufactured by Cisco.
