64MB Compact Flash |
Problem Description
CSCed64930 - Issue #1:
The following message will be exhibited during bootup when using Cisco/Toshiba 64MB Compact Flash in a Route Switch Controller (RSC):
*Mar 1 00:00:01.287: Compact Flash: Soft Reset Failed. Device Busy Status_cmd = 80!!
The reason for this error message is that the Cisco/Toshiba 64MB Compact Flash requires more time to become ready after initialization.
NOTE: This is just an warning message. It doesn't have any impact on functionality. The RSC still can use this device without any problem.
Condition:
This issue is seen with the AS5850 RSC.
CSCdz29466 - Issue #2:
Symptom:
The following message is displayed even when the RSC is using 64MB Compact Flash:
32768K bytes of Compact Flash card at slot 0 (Sector size 128K).
This is because the size of the Compact Flash is hardcoded to32MB. This is incorrect information. It does not have any impact on the functionality.
Condition:
This issue is seen with the AS5850 RSC.
Background
While testing the Toshiba/Cisco 64MB Compact Flash on the AS5850-RSC, these error/warning messages were found. Neither issue will impact functionality of the Compact Flash or the system. Both issues have fixes that will be intergrated into future IOS images.
Problem Symptoms
-
CSCed64930 - Increase maximum timeout value for Toshiba/Cisco Compact Flash
Symptom:
The following message will appear on bootup when using Cisco/Toshiba 64Mega Compact Flash in an RSC:
Compact Flash: Soft Reset Failed. Device Busy Status_cmd = 80!!
NOTE: This is just a warning message. The RSC still can use this device without any problem.
-
CSCdz29466 - Incorrect Compact Flash size in show version output
Symptom:
The show version command displays the Compact Flash size as 32MB even though a 64MB Compact Flash card is installed. However, the dir disk0: command and SNMP query will report correct information to the user.
AS5850# show version
....32768K bytes of Compact Flash card at slot 0 (Sector size 128K).
Workaround/Solution
The workaround for both issues is to either ignore the error message or to upgrade to a version of IOS where the fix has been integrated.
The integrated fixes are scheduled for the following code releases. NOTE: CCO dates are subject to change.
The following releases and later revisions will have fixes for these two bugs:
-
12.2(13)T12 ---- CCO on 4/12/04
-
12.2(15)T12 ---- CCO on 4/19/04
