Problem Description
The IP Phone may reboot if volume is set to maximum, a call is placed to it, and the caller makes a loud noise.
This occurs with the Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) or Signaling Connection Control Part (SCCP) IP Phone software loads.
Background
The circumstances under which this anomaly may be manifested are as follows:
-
IP Phone A has volume set to maximum.
-
Phone B calls IP Phone A.
-
IP Phone A picks up call either through Headset Button or by picking up Handset.
-
Caller at Phone B speaks loudly or or blows into the Phone B microphone.
-
IP Phone A reboots.
Problem Symptoms
The IP Phone reboots, dropping the call. The IP Phone returns to on-line status after re-registering with the call manager application.
Workaround/Solution
Workaround:
Reduce the volume on the IP Phone.
Solution:
Phone firmware loads were released to resolve this behavior.
-
For IP Phones with SIP, download version 7.5 or later releases
-
For IP Phones with SCCP, download version 7.2(1) or later releases
These phone firmware downloads may be obtained from the cisco.com Voice Software (registered customers only) download site.
Look for the protocol appropriate to your IP Phone.
