Problem Description
The IP Phones listed in the Products Affected section may get stuck in Configuring IP mode if disconnected from both Cisco CallManager and DHCP servers for four or more minutes.
Background
Code within the 8.0(3) IP Phone firmware release caused corruption of timer values used in handling DHCP.
This problem is not present in release 8.0(2).
The problem is fixed in 8.0(4) and later releases.
Problem Symptoms
The IP Phones listed in the Products Affected section may get stuck in Configuring IP mode indefinitely.
Workaround/Solution
Workaround:
None.
Solution:
Upgrade IP Phone firmware to release 8.0(4) or later releases.
Recovery:
If the IP Phone with firmware 8.0(3) displays Configuring IP continuosly, the IP Phone can be recovered by either of the two methods below.

Cycle power to the phone.

Reset the affected IP Phone by entering the **#** key sequence while in the Settings menu.
Either of the above two recovery methods will correct the corrupted timer values.
