Earning the FISMA Grade You Deserve
Do grades on the 2005 FISMA Cyber Security Report card accurately reflect agencies' security postures? Not necessarily. Some resource-strapped CIOs allocated scarce manpower to fixing vulnerabilities rather than completing the compliance paperwork. Click here to read how FISMA-conforming architectures and automated tools reduce the time required for documentation, inventory, and generating reports for inspector general audits.

New Wave for Wireless
Federal agencies are finding that wireless technologies can do more than simply connect users, they can help transform business processes and improve the ability to meet mission goals. Innovative wireless applications cropping up in civilian agencies and the Department of Defense range from tracking moveable assets to uploading telemetry data for instant analysis. Find out whether your agency's needs are best suited by host-based or network-based technologies, and why "self-forming" wireless networks are attracting keen interest from military agencies. IPv6: Pathway to the Future
If you're not up-to-speed on Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), you soon will be. Internet protocols define how computers and other devices communicate. Most hardware and software today use IPv4, the status quo for nearly three decades. The Internet community recently developed IPv6, to provide more space for IP addresses, greater peripheral connectivity and a host of other advantages. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) issued a mandate that all federal agencies must run IPv6 on their network backbones by June 30, 2008. The question now before federal managers isn't whether to adopt IPv6—it's how. Click here to learn how you can best manage the transition to IPv6, with as little disruption as possible.

New Survey Reveals Data-Sharing Trends
In October 2005, 144 federal IT managers shared their views on FISMA grades, COOP preparedness, and the role of self-forming, mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) in their agencies. See what they think, what they know—and what they don't know.
