The Associate Systems Engineer (ASE) graduate role is the start of a career path leading to a fully-qualified Cisco Systems Engineer position. This is a lead client-facing role within the Cisco Sales team, working with the Account Management community in order to qualify the needs of our clients, develop solutions, and manage relationships.

Program Start Date : July 2008 Eligibility requirement : Candidates must be able to live and work in the country they are applying for without sponsorship or visa support from Cisco. Summary of the Role
Associate Systems Engineers are the technical specialists of our sales community. They work with our customers to ensure their technical needs are fully understood and met - if not exceeded - by our solutions. As an ASE you will have an opportunity to work with many leading Cisco technologies, as well as interact with our valued customers. In this way, you will become a trusted advisor, adding a business and client relationship context to your role.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a deep technical understanding of solution sets, architecture, and our full product line
Maintain a good understanding of competitor solutions, products & services
Support Account Managers in client meetings and presentation
Clearly understand the business needs and requirements of the customer
Consult with customers to identify and develop solutions that are technically achievable and viable for sales proposals
Set up and prepare equipment for customer demonstrations and evaluations
Actively participate and consult with Virtual Teams to advance technical projects and initiatives

Education Requirements
University disciplines: Engineering/IT/Computer Science/Technology or Numerate degree
A Networking specialization would be an advantage
Basic Networking Knowledge expected - Knowledge and experience in LAN/WAN architecture, ISO/OSI, protocols (TCP/IP-Protocol-Suite)
Able to demonstrate technical knowledge and consultative skills
Knowledge and experience in different OS (Windows, Linux etc.)

Program Training
The program training consists of a year based in the Cisco Amsterdam office. There you will go through a structured learning program consisting of a variety of learning methods, from classroom, through to role-play. During this training you will take part in two field visits, returning back to the country you have applied to. These field trips offer an excellent opportunity to see the role hands-on and meet with the team you will be working with after training.
