Title:
Communication Enhancements to OpenOffice
Summary:
Several OpenOffice tools do not currently take full advantage of integrating advanced communication tools (voice, sharing, presence, etc). We invite proposals to collaborate in enhancing OpenOffice tools in this area.
Full Description:
Several communication elements have become popular integration items in the past few years, but the OpenSource community has not received full benefit. Examples include: initiate a phone-call
from within a spreadsheet, and automatically share the spreadsheet; show my presence-status from within a document that has a URL representing me, etc.
Cisco would like to help improve this situation. Cisco has contributed some elements from a softphone to the OpenSource community in the past (SIP signaling stack, voice crypto-stack).
If community collaborators are interested, we could provide some small funding, and perhaps further softphone components, to enhance the integration of advanced communication elements in OpenOffice.
Specifically, we are interested in SIP based voice, video, IM, presence capability in OpenOffice or similar open tool-suites.
Constraints and other information:
Possible access to some Cisco communications source code (as part of contribution to OpenSource community), and collaboration with a Cisco engineer at 10-15% time during the project.
Cisco expects all developments from this project will be made available to the OpenSource community.
