Protocol Classification (open call)

Project ID:

RFP-2007-031

Title:

Protocol Classification (open call)

Summary:

Part of the High-speed packet classification and protocol description languages initiative, this RFP covers high-level integration aspects, future looking research on networking, and additional topics on packet classification and protocol description languages (PDLs) that are not specifically related to other RFPs.

Full Description:

Following the idea of the main research area, this RFP encompasses investigation of novel techniques for flexible packet classification at very high speed, focusing on the protocol description and recognition components. The research should address high-level integration aspects, not limited to the scope of classification, and on future paradigms for high performance filtering and protocol analysis. This RFP also covers research proposals not directly related to any specific topic of the other RFPs on packet classification and languages.

Constraints and other information:

IPR will stay with the University. Cisco expects customary scholarly dissemination of results, and hopes that promising results would be made available to the community without limiting licenses, royalties, or other encumbrances.

On-going research - open call (RFP-999-like specifically on packet classification and languages)
