Cisco's Emerging Technologies (ET) area creates an environment for small, but fast-moving, Cisco teams to cultivate new ideas, processes and best practices for global market opportunities The emerging technology teams leverage a strong global partnership network, as well as the existing Cisco product and "go to market" framework to build on the innovation and development success other technology groups have already achieved.

Cisco's ET's cultivate a steady stream of new and integrated businesses with examples in advanced communications areas like TelePresence, Digital media, physical security and IPICS (IP Interoperability and Collaboration System). These are the technology areas that comprise the current ET portfolio of opportunites. Come learn more about this special area for Cisco innovation, globalization and partnerships.

We are starting with our Director of Market Management for ET speaking on November 15th at 10:30am Pacific time - then have dates for DMS (mid December) - IPICS (late January) - Physical Security (mid February) and Telepresence (early March). Presenters:
Irene Sandler is the Product Marketing Manager for the Cisco NAC Appliance product, focused on go-to-market strategy and field and customer communications. Previously, she was the director of marketing for Perfigo Inc., a provider of network security and control solutions, which was acquired by Cisco in 2004. Irene has over 10 years of business-to-business technology marketing experience, and holds a BS from Georgetown and an MBA from Harvard

Niall El-Assaad is Cisco’s NAC Appliance Product Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Niall joined Cisco in 2000 and supported financial services customers with Cisco security solutions prior to his current role. Previously, he worked for a Cisco partner as head of the communications team and for a financial services organization. With over 14 years of experience in the communications and security fields, Niall’s areas of expertise include network and host security design and implementation, and routing and switching. His certifications include Cisco CCIE #7493, CCNP and CCDP.

Manjula Talreja is a Senior Director in Cisco’s Voice Technology Group (VTG). . She runs the Customer Business Transformation organization as a member of VTG’s leadership team. She leverages her 20 years industry background in business strategy consulting and operations of large scale IT applications - to help Cisco’s top customers with business transformation using the Unified Communications technology. Internally at Cisco, she also helps drive VTG’s growth strategy.

Presenter: Shailesh Chandra, Director, Customer Business Transformation, Voice Technology Group
Shailesh Chandra helps customers/partners drive business change leveraging Unified Communications. Prior to this Shailesh was a Director in Cisco’s Internet Business Solutions Group. Shailesh has 15+ years experience in high-tech, including VP US Operations at Evidian-Groupe Bull, and the Communication & Information practice at Mercer Management Consulting. Shailesh studied electrical engineering in India, and graduate engineering and management at Dartmouth College.

Presenter: Bryan Tantzen, Director, Customer Business Transformation, Voice Technology Group
Bryan Tantzen is a Director at Cisco Systems in the Voice Technology Group’s Customer Business Transformation team where he leads the Financial Services and Manufacturing Practices. In the Business Transformation team, Bryan works with many of the world's leading companies to help them drive productivity and accelerate capturing business value through effective business processes and technology deployments.

Cisco's Vision of the Empowered Branch


The role of branch offices is changing as they take a bigger role in driving business innovation and growth. This shift in branch responsibilities coupled with the changes in technology and business practices introduce the need for a new approach to the branch IT infrastructure. The new branch needs to enhance business productivity and collaboration by supporting secure, anytime media-rich communication.

Inbar Lasser-Rabb, Director of Marketing, Network Systems
Inbar Lasser-Raab is Director of marketing in the Network Systems group responsible for marketing the Cisco access routing and switching portfolio and the Empowered Branch solution. Through her work at Cisco, Inbar has met with many enterprise and commercial customers to discuss their branch vision and strategy, and identify how Cisco can help them successfully implement it.

Prior to joining Cisco, Inbar was Vice President of Marketing at Riverstone Networks, where she managed the company’s worldwide marketing and channel activities, and was part of the turn-around team driving the company's acquisition by Lucent. Prior to that Inbar was a Director of Product Marketing at Nortel, where she was responsible for the marketing of the company’s entire carrier data product portfolio.

Inbar received a B.Sc. degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Tel Aviv University and an MBA from Santa Clara University.

Network-based Service Orchestration


In the July launch of our Cisco Data Center 3.0 initiative, we announced VFrame Data Center, an orchestration platform that leverages network intelligence to provision resources together as virtualized services. This industry-first approach greatly reduces application deployment times, improves overall resource utilization, and offers greater business agility. It includes an open API, and easily integrates with third party management applications, as well as best-of-breed server and storage virtualization offerings.

In this presentation we will cover the new VFrame Data Center solution. Ample time will be reserved for a question-and-answer session right after the presentation.

Bill Erdman is the marketing director responsible for data center virtualization, orchestration and provisioning offerings within Cisco's Data Center Technology Group. Bill joined Cisco in 1995 and has held senior marketing positions within the switching, storage, network management and IP communications business units. Previous to Cisco, Bill worked for 3Com Corporation, Digital Equipment Corporation, and General Electric.

Krish Savikumar is manager of the VFrame product within the Server Virtualization Business Unit at Cisco.

Building Cost-effective Storage Area Networks


In the July launch of our Cisco Data Center 3.0 initiative, we announced new storage area networking solutions that will help customers build cost-effective SANs. In this AR Speaker Series teleconference, we would like to discuss the challenges we see customers facing and bring you up to speed on these new products. These include additions to the MDS family of products, which serve as a cornerstone for Cisco’s overall data center strategy. In addition we will discuss our new fabric-based data migration solution that transfers block data nondisruptively across heterogeneous storage volumes and across distances, whether the host is online or offline.

This data center class solution helps to minimize the challenges experienced in migrating data, such as downtime, the need to add data migration software to servers, and the potential for data loss and corruption. Further, through an open API interface for key management, Cisco’s new Storage Media Encryption (SME) gives customers the flexibility to deploy stored encrypted data solutions that best meet their operational needs.

He has over 20 years experience in product management and software development in SANs, data networking, and wireless.

Deepak Munjal has more than 15 years of networking industry experience and is currently a Senior Marketing Manager for Data Center Solutions at Cisco. Previously, he was a Senior Systems Engineer and has been actively involved in the design and implementation of end-to-end networking solutions for Cisco's largest Fortune 500 customers.

Mark Weiner is Director of Product Marketing, Application Networking Services at Cisco Systems, focusing on Cisco application delivery technologies.

Previously, Mr. Weiner was Vice President of Marketing at NetDevices, a startup focused on next generation branch networking products, and Vice President of Marketing at NetScaler, a pioneer in application delivery products that was acquired by Citrix Systems. Earlier in his career, Mark spent several years in the telecommunications sector, serving as Vice President of Marketing at Redback Networks and Director of Marketing at Juniper Networks. Mr. Weiner began his career in the networking market with management roles at early industry leaders Bay Networks and Ungermann-Bass.

Mr. Weiner has a Masters in Business Administration Degree from Santa Clara University, where he is an advisory board member, and a Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
