Presenter: Joel Conover, Senior Marketing Manager
Joel Conover, Senior Marketing Manager, Cisco Systems, oversees product marketing for Cisco’s Empowered Branch portfolio.

Conover brings over 13 years of competitive analysis and hands-on testing experience from his prior roles as Research Director at Current Analysis and Senior Technology Editor at Network Computing Magazine. Conover has published thousands of research notes and over 250 hands-on reviews, tutorials, and primers on technologies and products, and has presented in numerous panels, industry forums, and trade show events in the routing and switching market space.

Joel holds bachelor degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Joel is an avid Teleworker, telecommuting from his Empowered Virtual Branch in De Pere, WI.

Cisco AR Speaker Series: Cisco's Commercial Business Segment - Our Value Proposition and Strategy


Please join us on Tuesday, March 18, 11AM – 12PM, Singapore time to receive an update via teleconference on Cisco's Commercial business segment, our value proposition and strategy in the evolving mid-market and fast pace SMB landscape. This event will be hosted by Cisco's head of Commercial business segment in Asia Pacific.

Presenter: Stuart Hendry, Managing Director, Commercial Asia Pacific.

Since joining Cisco in 2005, Hendry has lead Commercial, a successful growth engine, which includes mid-market and SMB segments. His leadership has resulted in strategies to help Commercial capitalize on emerging customer and market needs. Hendry's charter includes ensuring continued growth in this extremely dynamic marketplace and highlighting Cisco's value proposition to partners, customers and the industry at large.

Cisco AR Speaker Series: Data Center 3.0 Infrastructure Transformation


Please join Doug Gourlay, Senior Director for Cisco's Data Center Solutions Group as he shares the next phase of Cisco’s Data Center 3.0 vision and solutions. Cisco recently announced an innovative family of data center-class switching platforms, the Cisco Nexus Series, to meet customer demands for next-generation mission-critical data centers. As the data center transitions to a more services-centric model, the network plays a pivotal role in orchestrating virtual IT resources and scaling workloads. The Cisco Nexus 7000 Series was designed with this environment in mind, delivering the infrastructure chapter of Cisco’s Data Center 3.0 vision.

During this presentation, Mr. Gourlay will provide an overview of the new data center platform with both hardware and software innovations, including:
- The Cisco Nexus 7000 Series, the flagship data center-class switching platform combining Ethernet, IP, and storage capabilities across one unified network fabric
- The Cisco Trusted Security (TrustSec) architecture
- An advanced operating system, the Cisco Nexus Operating System (NX-OS), and the Cisco Data Center Network Manager

Presenter: Doug Gourlay
Doug Gourlay has been a leader in the creation of Cisco development, investment, and architectural strategies combining emerging technologies with core infrastructure. As Senior Director for Data Center Solutions, Mr. Gourlay defines and executes Cisco’s global marketing strategy for data center products and technologies, including storage and application networking, data center switching, high-performance computing, and WAN optimization. Under his leadership, the data center solutions segment has grown from a nascent business to a multi-billion-dollar global concern.

Cisco's Unified Workspace Licensing


Cisco would like to invite you to join us for an update on Cisco Unified Workspace Licensing (CUWL). You may remember from our October 2007 call that CUWL provides a new, easy, and affordable program for procurement of Cisco Unified Communications applications and services. This web conference will discuss recent enhancements to the program.

Presenter 1: Taylor Collyer
As Director of Product Management for the Unified Communications Business Unit Taylor Collyer is responsible for product management, technical marketing, and business development for applications that help people communicate more richly and effectively. His portfolio responsibilities include Unified Messaging and Voicemail; Audio, Video, and Web Conferencing; Unified Clients and Presence; and Mobility.

Presenter 2: Julie O'Brien
A seven year Cisco veteran with 14 years of marketing experience in video, networking and voice industries, Julie leads the Cisco UC applications team that is responsible for marketing the Cisco Unified Workspace including presence, conferencing, messaging, and mobility. During her tenure at Cisco, Julie led the Microsoft-Cisco UC interoperability roadmap, featuring integration between Cisco UC solutions and Microsoft Live Communications Server / Office Communications Server and Exchange 2007; Cisco's commercial UC marketing team; and the Cisco ISR product introduction.

Cisco Application Delivery Strategy


Please join George Kurian, Vice President and General Manager for Cisco's Application Delivery Business Unit, and Mark Weiner, Director of Market Management for Data Center Solutions as they share the next phase of Cisco's Application Delivery strategy and its role within Cisco's overall Data Center 3.0 vision.

Along with the strategy update, Cisco will introduce a variety of new Cisco application delivery solutions. With these new application delivery solution additions, Cisco is extending application delivery end-to-end and offering the broadest portfolio in the market. In addition, Cisco will discuss how we are aligning with major software partners throughout the world.

Presenter: George Kurian

George Kurian is Vice-President and General Manager for Cisco's Application Delivery Business Unit. In this role, he leads the development and implementation of the Cisco strategy for Application Delivery products which help to scale, optimize, and secure the delivery of applications across heterogeneous networks. Mr. Kurian was previously Vice-President of Product Management and Strategy at Akamai Technologies. He also worked with McKinsey and Company and at Oracle Corporation. Mr. Kurian holds a B.S.E. in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University and an MBA from Stanford University.

Presenter: Mark Weiner

Mark Weiner is Director of Market Management for Data Center Solutions at Cisco, focusing on Cisco application delivery technologies. Previously, Weiner was Vice President of Marketing at NetDevices, a startup focused on next generation branch networking products, and Vice President of Marketing at NetScaler, a pioneer in application delivery products that was acquired by Citrix Systems. Earlier in his career, Weiner spent several years in the telecommunications sector, serving as Vice President of Marketing at Redback Networks and Director of Marketing at Juniper Networks. Weiner began his career in the networking market with management roles at early industry leaders Bay Networks and Ungermann-Bass.

Mr. Weiner has a Masters in Business Administration Degree from Santa Clara University, where he is an advisory board member, and a Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of California, Berkeley

Speaker Series on Cisco Switching Portfolio – Enabling a Web 2.0 World


Networks are evolving to deliver greater collaboration between customers, partners, and suppliers. New applications have changed traffic flows, and require higher service levels. Resources must be highly available, and less complex to manage. Access must be provided to more users, everywhere, and meet growing compliance needs. Cisco has introduced deep packet inspection, virtual switching, wireless enhancements and integrated role-based security to address these needs.

Please join Cisco executives Marie Hattar and Walt Blomquist as they discuss how Cisco's switching portfolio is leveraging these innovations, and evolving in 2008 to meet new demands.

Presenter: Marie Hattar
Marie Hattar is Senior Director of Network Systems and Security solutions marketing at Cisco Systems. An industry expert in data communications, convergence and security, she is an often- sought speaker for major industry seminars and events. Prior to Cisco, Marie worked at Nortel Networks, Alteon WebSystems and Shasta Networks in senior marketing positions. She was previously chair of the Broadband Content Delivery Forum (BCDF) and is co-author of IP Services at the Network Edge published by Addison-Wesley.

Marie holds a master's in business administration in marketing from York University and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto.

Presenter: Walt Blomquist
Walt Blomquist is Senior Director of Marketing for Cisco Systems Internet Systems Business Unit (ISBU) where he is responsible for driving the strategic direction and product strategy of the Catalyst 6500 Series LAN switching platform. Before launching the Catalyst 6500 Series in 1999 and leading it to multibillion dollar success, Blomquist led product management and marketing responsibilities for the Cisco’s midrange platform in the core router portfolio.
Prior to joining Cisco, Blomquist held executive positions Nishan Systems (acquired by McData), Ascendent Systems (acquired by RIM), and Network Equipment Technologies. With over 15 years of industry leadership experience, Blomquist is a graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Speaker Series on Unified Communications


Presenter: Chris Thompson is the Senior Director for Solutions Marketing at Cisco. Chris manages the launch and positioning of the full range of Cisco solutions for telephony, messaging, and collaboration. Prior to joining Cisco, Christopher Thompson was the vice president of worldwide marketing at Netopia, a Motorola Company. Previously he was also the vice president of product management and marketing at Visionael Corporation and the Vice President of marketing for network security and management at Network Associates. There he was a member of the management team that led the divestiture and launch of Network General Corporation. He has also held executive positions at Brooktrout Technology and Nortel.
