For today's CIOs, the pressures to deliver productivity solutions to keep costs low and business agility high are greater than ever. IT departments must show a clear, measurable business value for all of their efforts. This includes not only driving down costs but also increasing the productivity of the IT organization through operational efficiencies and by taking a process-oriented approach. CIOs also need to take an enterprise perspective on all of their assets—business engagement, information and data, applications, and infrastructure—and manage them synergistically to optimize the IT investment.
Furthermore, CIOs need to bring innovative expertise to the table as well as reshape their roles to become an integral member of the senior management team, moving from a back-office support function to a driver and influencer of business direction.
For other business executives, the pressures are no less demanding and are very clear: to provide more capabilities, greater personalization, and increased agility—all at lower costs.
