Daylight Savings Time Comes Early This Year in U.S. and Canada

Daylight Savings Time (DST) arrived three weeks sooner this year in the U.S. and Canada, but many computers are not programmed to expect the change. This year the time change went into effect three weeks earlier, on Sunday, March 11. But traditionally daylight savings has started on the first Sunday in April and ended the final Sunday in October.
Those rules, in place for two decades, were overturned by a 2005 U.S. law that extended daylight savings by three weeks in the spring and one week in the autumn.
The change, intended by the U.S. Congress to save energy, has caused computer users to scramble to deal with potential disruptions, especially businesses that rely heavily on calendar programs.
Cisco is taking a proactive approach to complying with the new DST changes to help ensure that Cisco products in customer networks continue to operate without impact through the DST date transition.
For information on how to update affected products, see the Technology Note U.S. Daylight Savings Time (DST) Changes for 2007.
The document guides customers through the Cisco product lines that require intervention in order to prepare them for the US-DST date changes. Additional product information will be provided on Cisco.com as soon as it becomes available. Customers can check back frequently for updates.
