Cisco Compatible Extensions

Application Guidelines

If your company produces and sells wireless LAN (WLAN) client devices, you are eligible for the Cisco® Compatible Extensions Program for WLAN devices. By applying online, you can take advantage of the benefits associated with Cisco innovations and tested interoperability with Cisco Aironet® wireless LAN products. The application is free, and the technology is licensed at no cost. Charges for 3rd party independent testing will apply.

Once your company has completed the requirements described in the Cisco Compatible Extensions Program Participant Lifecycle, your product will be listed on Cisco.com as Cisco Compatible. In addition, you will be able to begin marketing your product with the Cisco Compatible logo according to the terms outlined in the Cisco Logo Guidelines agreement.

Becoming a member of the Cisco Compatible Extensions Program for wireless LAN devices is a 5 stage process that is briefly described below. After accepted into the program, the participant will have access to all the required documents and full procedures.

Stage 1: Application

All companies interested in joining the program should review the program requirements and complete the on-line application supplying all the information requested.

A Non-Disclosure Agreement will also need to be signed at this time.
Please allow 45 days for review of the application. You will be notified via e-mail of the status within this time.

Stage 2: Review, signed agreements and notification

Once Cisco has accepted your application to the program, you will be provided with necessary materials for the program. In addition, you will need to execute the program agreement.

Stage 3: Web Submission and Waiver Template

Participants should then complete the Web Submission and Waiver Template for inclusion in Cisco.com.

Stage 4: Interoperability Testing

Participants are required to perform interoperability testing on the submitted products. This testing will be conducted at 3rd party test houses AppLabs and Allion. Successful completion of this testing is required to obtain approval.

Stage 5: Executed Contract And Final Deliverables

Once the testing has successfully completed, and the remaining deliverables have been submitted, Participant profiles will be posted to the Cisco external web site, and the participant will receive the right to use the Cisco Compatible Logo.

Stage 6: Ongoing Maintenance

Participants will be required to update appropriate information on Cisco.com periodically, and to keep their products tested with the current Cisco Compatible wireless releases.

Retest.

The participant agrees to repeat this test process for each version of the product that receives the right to use the Cisco Compatible Logo.
