To achieve SMB Specialization, you must qualify for each defined job role: Account Manager and Engineer. The SMB Specialization is an entry-level specialization in the Cisco partner program. Partners may pursue more advanced specializations in various technologies to gain further benefits or to reach higher certification levels. These advanced specializations carry with them higher levels of role expertise. Role sharing allows a single individual to fulfill similar roles across 2 or more specializations, based upon the specialization and the role. Cisco has reduced the number of unique individuals required across Express, Advanced, and Master Specializations, however, the total number of individuals required to achieve each certification level remains unchanged. A single qualified individual may fill only the AM role in up to a total of 4 specializations. A single qualified individual may fill only the SE role in up to a total of 2 specializations. A single qualified individual may fill only the FE role in up to a total of 2 specializations. Individuals may not cross-populate between the AM, SE and FE roles. The SMB Specialization requires two roles; one Account Manager (AM) and one Engineer (EN). Both the AM and the EN roles each require two exams be passed, for a total of 4 exams for the specialization (see below for exam details). An individual must pass both AM exams to hold the AM role. An individual must also pass both EN exams to hold the EN role. OR, a single individual may pass all four exams and be allowed to hold both the AM and the EN roles. SMB, CRM Express and VPN-Firewall specializations are not limited by the above allocation rules. Because technology is continually evolving, Cisco specialization requirements are subject to change. Please refer to this site to ensure that you meet all current program requirements before you submit your specialization application. Effective 1 August, 2007, partners wishing to become SMB Specialized must pass 2 additional exams: SBCS for Account Managers and SBCS for Engineers as well as the current exams covering the Foundation and Security solutions for SMB. The new training will enable partners to sell, design, and install the SBCS. The new e-learning courses - Selling SBCS and SBCS for Engineers - also help prepare partners for the 2 new SBCS exams.
